Montreal

We had a great time in beautiful Montreal sampling the many different sides of the city and sitting in the sun at various cafes.

In Montreal they put the stores underground because most of the year it's freezing. But in the summer they grow some beautiful stuff on the streets. This was near McGill University.

We hopped on the Metro and spent an afternoon at La Ronde, an amusement park on the Sainte-Hélène Island in the St. Lawrence with a great view of the city. Dylan and Bob went on the horrifying "Vampire" rollercoaster from which you hang with your feet down and go upside down so fast the G-forces threaten to tear you apart...and then the "Cobra" another steel coaster where you are harnessed in a standing position and subjected to more abuse. Drew and I sat it out. Though Drew REALLY wanted to muster the courage to go. After Bob emerged from the "Cobra" he announced that he was done...no more roller coasters for him. Ever.

One of the other highlights was a surreal 3D Sponge Bob ride - all in French.

Now I can't get "Bob L'Eponge" out of my head and that meglomanic Plankton (say it with a thick french accent) who yelled in 3D at us Je suis Plankton! C'est moi!!!

Sainte-Hélène Island also has a beautiful park (Parc Jean-Drapeau). It was Bob's birthday so at his request we spent part of the day at Piknic Electronik a kind of electronica rave meet-up. People of all ages come, though the later it gets, the more wild it becomes. The location is breathtaking. We were there as the sun was heading down under this giant sculpture with gorgeous views of the city across the river. The boys got quite an eyeful there from the crowd! They weren't so into it - but Bob and I had a ball checking it all out, dancing and sharing a beer.

Oh yeah, and I wish I had a video of when Drew squeezed the little container of cream and it exploded all over him.

Well, we got home, went to bed, got up and sent our baby Dylan off to his first day of high school and Drew off to his first day of 5th grade. Neither of them let us take their picture in front of the school.
