Dave Barry on 24

I'm still totally addicted to 24. And now, thanks to our friend and fellow 24-lover Bob Shuman I found out that Dave Barry is a 24 fan...and blogs about it on his blog...and it's hysterical. Great. Now I'm going to be addicted to 24 and Dave Barry blogging 24.

California

We've been almost moving to California for a year. Here's the metaphor for how we're handling it. It's from Spy Kids 2...and I know...my metaphor standards have definitely changed.

The Spy Kids are falling down a bottomless pit and they're screaming. But after a long time they start getting bored of the terror. They yawn. They get hungry...

Carmen: How can you eat at a time like this?
Juni: You know that feeling you get when your falling?
Carmen: Yeah.
Juni: Well I kind of lost that feeling after the first hour.

So after a long year of uncertainty and bouts of despair and hand wringing...we chucked it all and got on a plane to visit the place we keep almost moving.

We're still here. It's been wonderful.

The whole time...on the beach in Santa Monica, on the backlot at Warner Brothers, snaking down Rte. 1, in Santa Barbara, San Simeon and Carmel, the Peninsula and San Francisco...that Counting Crows song keeps going through my head...you know the one...

Our Lion

Dylan starred as the Cowardly Lion in the Middle School production of the Wizard of Oz this weekend.

Shameless bragging ahead.

We were overwhelmed at how well he played the role and so was everyone else. People literally gushed about his performance. His director says he's a natural. He stole the show. He was laugh out loud funny throughout. There's no question he's in his element on stage.

But no matter how well he did, the thing we were most happy about was the overall experience he had. The cast and crew became really close and developed wonderful memories they will always cherish. It was a great group of kids and adults and a wonderful place to play out all those new teenage realities. We couldn't have wished more for him.


We were also incredibly impressed with the scale of the production. It was over the top!
