Gone Skiing

Just back from a few days at Loon Mountain skiing. What a great time. Dylan and Drew got a lot of good skiing in and broke through that tough "beginner" phase. And Bob's getting really good...at least as good as me and I used to be the only skiier!

It was all fun and games until Drew got hurt. He ran into a snowboarder and banged up his knee. The snowboarder was fine. Drew got a ride down the moutain on a ski patrol toboggan - not something he will soon forget! He was up and around in no time - just a bruise. Whew!

Thanks to the Schlanger's for inviting us to stay at their great winter getaway! Here's Olivia posing with her new pal, Brownie.

Brokeback

Yeah, it really is that good.

First place

Drew won first place for his Cub Scout Den in the Pinewood Derby and 3rd place racing against the whole Pack. The winning car is on his arm and the medal is pinned to his chest. Congratulations Drew! Great job!

Da Bills

I've lived in New England for more than 20 years. But I'm still a Bills fan. It's a sad, lonely existence.

It goes without saying that the Bills aren't
in the Superbowl. My second best team, the Pats, surprisingly are not in it either. But I'll watch it anyway for the commercials and the spectacle.

Here's some good Bills jokes for your entertainment courtesy of SuzieQ:

Q: What do you call 47 millionaires around a TV watching the Super Bowl?

A: The Buffalo Bills.

Q: What do the Buffalo Bills and Billy Graham have in common?
A: They both can make 70,000 people stand up and yell "Jesus Christ."

Q: How do you keep a Buffalo Bill out of your yard?
A: Put up goal posts.

Q: Where do you go in Buffalo in case of a tornado?
A: To Rich Stadium - they never get a touchdown there.

Q: What do you call a Buffalo Bill with a Super Bowl ring?
A: A thief.

Q: Why doesn't Rochester have a professional football team?
A: Because then Buffalo would want one.

Q: What's the difference between the Buffalo Bills and a dollar bill?
A: You can still get four quarters out of a dollar bill.

Q: What do the Buffalo Bills and possums have in common?
A: Both play dead at home and get killed on the road

Q: How many Buffalo Bills does it take to win a Super Bowl?
A: Nobody knows and we may never find out.

Raining, pouring

Well, I've almost made it through January. When you're working as a freelancer/consultant like me, it's uncanny. There are long stretches of time when there are lulls in work. And then you get a gig and invariably you get another and another. It all happens at once.

It's good to be busy. Can't complain. But I do anyway.

All Growed Up

These are my nephews.

Dan and Jim are graduating this spring with Engineering degrees from Clarkson University and they've both already been offered great jobs for gobs of money.

Jon is a budding graphic artist who will graduate high school in the spring and go to some fabulous college, I'm sure.

We're all really proud of these boys. So proud, we love to regularly taunt them with pictures like these. AWWW...weren't they CUTE?

24

I am thoroughly addicted to 24. I didn't start watching until last year and now I'm hooked. The last two nights were so intense I almost decided to quit watching for my own good. Sometimes I'm literally on the edge of my seat.

I'm not alone. Sunday the show had 17 million viewers.

Jon Stewart

So Jon Stewart will host the Oscars this year.

I'm so excited I just might throw an Oscar party.
