Spang World Premiere

The youth group at the Old North Church put together a great event on Friday night - a spaghetti dinner followed by a talent show, all to benefit Habitat for Humanity.

Not only did they raise $1,300 and surpass their estimates on crowd turnout, but the event set the stage for the world premiere of Spang, who performed to a standing-room-only crowd.

Spang is Dylan Welch on keyboards and vocals, Bridger Trap on guitar, Ben Barber on bass and Jake Corcoran on drums. They do their own original music.

They performed "The World you Wear" (written by Dylan) and "Gotta Get it Outta Me"(written by Dylan and Bridger) a song which was risky for Dylan because he had to be the front man...but he pulled it off with great stage presence...as Patty said "he got his Jim Morrison on."

The sound system, as you'll hear, was awful but it didn't matter. They rocked the place. And now they know they can play in front of people, not just in the basement.

A bunch of friends came out to support them. It was great.

It's amazing to see these boys, most of whom we've known since Kindergarten, up on stage looking so cool and put together...not to mention being adored by girls all over the room. It really hits all of us "parents of the band." Hard to put into words the way we felt - proud? amazed? thoughtful? psyched? All of that.

Dorothy was in town - so it was cool that we were all there for the big night.

Spang goes into a local studio to record two songs next weekend and they're already planning their performance at the Marblehead High School talent show.

Go Spang!

Here are the videos from the night...
