Bob and I offered to drive 5 of the kids to the event. It was quite a day.
We left Marblehead at 6:30am, drove a few hours out to Amherst. There they met up with high school chorus kids from all over the state and were divided into male and female choruses.
The UMass choral directors spent all day with them and each group learned 3 songs. Plus the UMass chorus and the combined male/female high school honors chorus rehearsed a few other songs.
At 7pm they had the concert. It was fantastic. We were blown away at how quickly they were able to learn and the quality of the performance. The UMass Choirs performed on their own as well and were absolutely world class - incredible talent. We all fell into bed after a long drive home at around midnight.
Pops - I wish you could have been there! We're so glad Dylan is following in your musical footsteps!
The combined chorus had more than 300 voices and it culminated with an incredible performance of Aaron Copeland's The Promise of Living. Here it is...
