Bob and Henrik worked together at Atari. Henrik's a Swede, a really great guy and when we first met him, an eminently eligible bachelor. Bob used to kid him saying "Henrik, how are you ever going to get a girl when you have nothing but fish and vodka in your refrigerator?"But one day it was clear he had met someone. And after much goading, this gentleman, this former Swedish army officer, gave in and admitted that yes, he had a girlfriend. And just in case you doubt the effectiveness of a personal ad...he met her through a personal ad.
At their wedding this past weekend in beautiful Provincetown, Henrik said again and again that the first time he saw Chelsea he knew...she was the one. And she is. They positively glowed.
The day before the wedding the guests were invited to a guided tour of the dunes. Our driver took us back into the National Seashore into this most unusual and beautiful landscape.

The tour dropped us right at the beach at the very tip of Cape Cod where a New England Clambake awaited.

The guests had traveled from all over the world to attend the wedding - Denmark, France, Sweden, and from all over the U.S. All the kids had a ball together. And it was a perfect night for a beach party.

It was great - bare feet on the sand, cold beers, warm fire, cool sea breeze, lobster and steamers, good friends...ahhhh.And that night we slept at Mike and Rosemary's in Truro with the sound of the waves and the same sea breeze lulling us to sleep.
The next day breakfast on the deck and great laughs. Lunch in Wellfleet.

The wedding was held at the Pilgrim Monument. Provincetown was the place the pilgrims first landed before going on to Plymouth and the infamous rock. The monument is a the top of a hill overlooking all of Provincetown and the dunes.Henrik wore his Swedish army dress uniform and Chelsea was stunning. They were gorgeous and happy and in love.

The reception was in a fairytale tent set up right beside the monument. It was done in the Scandinavian style. Toastmasters led the guests through the dinner courses and introduced guests as they stood and toasted the bride and groom and regaled the gathering with stories. The dinner lasted three hours and was delicious - complete with a course of aquavit and fish, of course.
As per Scandinavian tradition all of the guests were assigned a seat next to someone they did not already know. Folded up inside each napkin were little written tips about your partner that gave everyone conversation starters. We were paired off with Bob and Henrik's colleagues and friends Cedric and Alexi from Paris and their wives. We had a ball together. Bob gave the kind of toast only Bob can give - off the cuff, unrehearsed and perfect.
After dinner, there was a full orchestra to groove the night away. And then there was the after party at The Vixen...which if you've ever been to Provincetown...was over the top. We stumbled home to Mike and Rosemary's in the wee hours.A year ago when we were invited to visit ChelseaandHenrik.com, we knew we were in for something special. Chelsea is an architect and has impeccable taste and style. Henrik is a master gentleman. Their attention to detail and the care with which they hosted their guests was unsurpassed - the custom printed menus and programs and little surprises.
Thanks to Mike and Rosemary for having our boys for the night and for being such great friends. And thanks to Henrik and Chelsea Strandberg...who are now honeymooning in Europe...for wrapping us in the warm embrace of your beautiful, beautiful wedding.
The future's so bright, you've got to wear shades.
