Growing up I always called it pop. Now I've been in Massachusetts so long I've crossed over and call it soda. Bob never crossed over. He's still pop, but our kids are soda.
Look how the dividing line for soda and pop in New York State. Wham! you're in soda territory as soon as you hit Syracuse. Look at all the soda transplants in Miami. Fascinating.

So, where's the MA blip for "tonic"?
I agree! When we moved here and ordered POP we had no idea what TONIC was but that was the name all over. Seems less so now - I think.
